Miscellaneous Stuff
Here you will find stuff such as:
About me, the less said the better since this website is about Giovanni Guareschi, not me. But a minimal introduction:
22 years, male, single. Born and been living since in Pune. Just completed my B.E. course last year, so now I am a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (for what it's worth). Currently, I'm working with a software firm that deals in CAD/CAM and is less than a mile from home (life's little bonuses...).
My hometown is some 100-odd miles from Mumbai, the commercial capital of India, and is growing like you wouldn't believe it.
My father was the one to introduce me to Don Camillo and Peppone. He read a Marathi (the local language spoken in the state of Maharashtra) translation of a Don Camillo story way back in 1952. He searched for ten long years till he finally came across the English version of The Little World of Don Camillo. Over a period of fifteen more years, he collected most of GG's other works. It is perhaps the greatest gift that he has bestowed me.
Sometime in October, last year, I came across a web page in Italian (which I understood later to be the official GG fan club) and found an e-mail address starting with "peppone". Assuming the address to be of another fan of GG's, I sent an e-mail. Imagine my great joy when I received a reply from none other than Giovanni Guareschi's son, Alberto Guareschi and daughter, Carlotta Guareschi.
Having read GG's The House That Nino Built, I felt that I knew them almost personally. I really enjoyed communicating with them via e-mail. They told me once that they know no English. But we were able to keep in touch, no doubt through some obliging member of The Club, since all the interpreting took place at their end.
Here are a few photos of Giovannino.

These are various drawings drawn by GG apart from those he's drawn for his stories. The most famous of them is the first one, which I've kept on the main page. Others that I have seem to be ones that GG drew during his days in the war. I haven't got around to scanning them yet. Will do that asap.
