The Legal Page

The pages at this site are meant as a tribute to Giovanni Guareschi whom I regard as my mentor. I have made them purely to promote the writings of Giovanni Guareschi, which are largely unknown in India, and possibly in other parts of the world as well, since all of the English translations of his books are out of print and any old editions are very difficult to get hold of.

I derive only personal pleasure in posting these pages and do not expect to receive any consequent compensation, in cash or in kind. All copyright notices from the books that I have quoted from appear at the bottom of the index page of every book and are also listed in complete detail below. I expressly state that I do not intend to infringe any copyrights. Should anybody feel that any part of this site does not adhere to the copyright laws, please contact me via my feedback page and I will remove the offending parts immediately, albeit with great regret.

I implore the publishers / copyright holders to let me pay my tributes to my favourite author in this manner. Of course, I do not contest their rights in this regard.

P.S. Having written all this, I am now quoting an e-mail sent to me by Alberto & Carlotta Guareschi, in reply to a query on my part about any legalities that may be involved in hosting this wab page.

Dear Vajrang,

There is no problem for what concerns the copyright: you have our permission to put on the web page everything you desire as we are the only owners of the english rights about our father's complete work. In fact the english Publisher's rights have expired.

Alberto & Carlotta Guareschi

Yours Truly most gratefully acknowledges their magnanimous response to my request.
